Our Real Wedding

I had initially wanted a very simple, small wedding in a temple/gurudwara as I believed weddings are a very hectic affair for the couple involved. However, my (now) husband always wanted a destination wedding with his close friends and family. I am glad we went with his decision as what remains with me now (after the wedding is done and dusted) is the beautiful memories made with our loved ones! The 2 days went by effortlessly with the blink of an eye despite the fact it was a destination wedding, 4 back to back functions, heavy rainfall and not to forget COVID times. Maybe it was just the unbounded happiness and adrenaline rush one experiences.

A memory that will always remain with me was that of the Anand Karaj ceremony - even though it wasn’t as small as a temple/gurudwara wedding, it was a very intimate affair nonetheless as each side had only a handful of guests. I had all my close family and friends around me in the hall and it was serene. The rains were a blessing in disguise as it enabled everyone to gather around us and enjoy the pious ceremony unlike at other weddings when people are distracted and everyone is scattered all over the space. In those cases, the ceremony takes a back seat but I feel for those 30 mins while the ceremony was on, everyone was rapt with emotion.
