A disastrous experience

The Eventwalaz and Ayush have now shifted base to Lucknow. This review is not about their Delhi operations (which my guess is run by Ayush's brother) but about The Eventwalaz in Lucknow (run by Ayush). Please beware of this guy.

Ayush and his team are big, shameless frauds. My sister contacted Ayush in April 2023 for wedding planning and he quoted a deal worth Rs 6.5 lac. Ayush turned out to be a good salesman and my sister hired him to do the planning and decor for four functions: Mehendi and Cocktail on November 27 and Haldi and Wedding on Nov 28. All happening in Clarks Avadh Lucknow, except for the Cocktail dinner party that was in Lord of the Drinks, Summit, Lucknow.

Over the next few months, he sent us some fancy PPTs and promised to execute everything seamlessly with his team of volunteers. However, it was all lies. And hiring him turned out to be a DISASTROUS experience for my family.

1. CHEATING MONEY: In the months leading to the wedding, Ayush kept asking for money repetitively, in the name of this and that vendor for buying props and whatnot. But during the events, we realized he had not bought anything for the wedding. During the mehendi and haldi functions, we had to borrow tables and chairs from Clark Avadh. Ayush and his team set up some props, which were just 10-20% of what we had discussed. For this pathetic service and basic decor, he had taken Rs 1 lac from us for each of the functions! Rs 2 lacs for something that we could have done easily if we had just hired a tent and flower guy. Moreover, at the wedding, for which he charged Rs 4 lacs., he borrowed used sofas and rugs, etc. from other vendors catering to other weddings at the venue. They had nothing arranged from their side. It was horrible to see such tattered stuff at the wedding.

Over and above that, we had Ayush arrange some simple flower decor at home for mandap pooja. And he charged us Rs 10,000. They used some 50 meters of genda flowers and seven bouquets that they taped on walls. Later we checked with a flower vendor, and the material was not even worth Rs 2500-Rs 3000.

They cheated us money big time for all the events.

2. DECOR: The decor at the mehendi and haldi functions was not even 20% of what was promised to us. And that too, because the family members intervened and took the help of the hotel to complete the arrangements. Ayush was not even present for the Mehendi function, and his team was led by his colleague, Ahana, who also reached just when the function was supposed to begin. This delayed the function by more than two hours. Their team did not know what to do and we had to take things in our hands.

For our cocktail which was supposed to be an informal dinner for family and friends, we just needed a simple table arrangement and lighting. They messed up even that!! Haldi was a bit better, but again, they just did 30-40% of the promised decor.

The worst was the wedding. The arrangements were not even 30% of what was promised to us. Poor execution delayed the entire event. Moreover, they used tattered furniture and dirty rugs. If you saw these things in the evening that day, you would have thought some marriage had just finished. There were no dustbins. The lighting was so pathetic that our photographer came running to complain about it. There was no coordination with the hotel team on things like photography by drone and music. No planning on when and where to use dry ice. My brother and my father had to step in at every point. They could not enjoy my sister's wedding at all. The overall execution was horrible. It made the entire wedding experience for my family a nightmare.

They call themselves wedding planners, but they can't even do the decor as promised.

3. PLANNING: Ayush miserably failed to collaborate with the Clarks Avadh Lucknow (the venue) and the permissions regarding drone, music, counters, etc. were managed by my brother. These guys were completely of no service. On top of it, Ayush and a guy from Clark had a shady deal going on regarding the entry fee/ gate pass. We were told that the gate pass at Clarks would cost us Rs 50,000. It was agreed that we would pay half and the other half would be paid by Ayush. Later Ayush said Clarks is asking for Rs 80,000 and he tried to get more out of us. We wanted to clear it with Ayush and Clarks face-to-face at the venue, but Ayush never turned up to meet the management guy with us. Still, we sorted the issue and agreed that the gate pass fee would be Rs 53,000 which needed to be paid before the vendors entered the hotel. We paid our part, but Ayush never did. In the end, the hotel did not allow vendors to enter their premises and Ayush did not respond to our calls. We had to clear his 50% as well. To this date, he has not returned that money to us.

It was such a big mismanagement that Ayush and his company Eventwalaz are now banned from Clarks Awadh.

2. GUEST SERVICE: We were promised that there would be a welcome desk where the Ayush team would be present to help our guests staying in the hotel check-in. They even showed us a pic of the table set up. They assured us that they had spoken with the hotel management and it would be done. But when we arrived at the venue, there was no welcome desk! No one was present to welcome our guests and do the check-ins. Ultimately, we had to take care of it! The same is true with the cabs. My brother had to arrange cabs for every guest arriving all by himself. Ayush and Ahana were missing in action. Calls were not returned. Messages were ignored. All we had were a few volunteers who did not have any idea what was going on.

In the end, they failed miserably at everything they promised, be it a welcome desk, check-ins, or managing cabs for the guests. Each and everything was taken care of by my brother, personally. And they were not even ashamed of their poor service. They were audacious enough to ask us rest of the money, even threatening us with further nonaction.

3. HARASSMENT: In the last couple of weeks, Ayush's demands for payment increased sharply. We had already paid them 70%. We told them we would give 30% after the event was over. They called us repeatedly that they had to pay vendors and if not, no one would come. We failed to understand what did they exactly do with Rs 4 lacs we had already paid them. When we asked them for details, they became more and more rude. We could not believe they were in the service industry.

First, Ayush did not pay the gate fee (we bore it on his behalf). Second, he was not present for the Mehendi function, and that too, without any explanation. We were just left in a lurch panicking if our function would even happen. I wish no one ever has to face that kind of stress.

Then came the cocktail dinner party. We settled the bill directly with the Lord of the Drinks, with a guy present from Ayush's team. Later that night, they called us saying some amount was still pending for some reason when we had a signed document from the Lord of the Drinks and the guy from Ayush's team stating everything was settled. They did not seem to get their commission from the Lord of the Drinks and thus they created the entire ruckus. On the morning of my sister's Haldi and Wedding, I got a call from Ahana, who threatened me that they would do the Haldi decor, but not the Wedding if the amount was not cleared. This was my sister's wedding day!! I was shocked. I couldn't enjoy it even one bit. My brother was even more stressed. He had to talk to Ayush and Ahana to understand the issue who just kept asking for the rest of the money. They knew that they had messed up Mehendi and Cocktail big time, and thought they wouldn't get a penny more from us. Ultimately we had to pay some more to them.

The worst was yet to come. While their decor and service fell super short of what they had promised, they had the guts to create a scene at the time of shaadi. It was 2 am and the wedding rituals were going on. They kept calling my brother who was busy with the rituals. When my father and I went to talk to them, they were audacious enough to yell at us! In the middle of my sister's wedding! Specially Ahana. She was super aggressive and super arrogant. They wanted us to clear 15% payment and hold only 10%. We asked them to wait for a few hours because the wedding was going on. But no! They called my brother and argued with him. He could not even attend the wedding, for which he had been preparing for months and months.

We had enough. We told them we wouldn't pay till the Shadi was over. After Vidaai, we cleared 97% of the payment. 3% we forfeited for such a nightmarish experience, and we communicated with them so.

CONCLUSION

It's been a month since the wedding, and Ayush still calls for that 3%. He once threatened us to send vendors to our house! We told them one more time he contacted us, we would go to the police. But these guys are shameless. They still keep calling us. We made a grave mistake by hiring these hooligans.

The market would not let go of guys like Ayush and Ahana. These guys are the worst. Please don't make the mistake of hiring Eventwalaz. Unless you want to turn your wedding or the wedding of your loved one into a disastrous experience.
