Wedding bells rang for the beautiful couple, actor Athiya Shetty and cricketer KL Rahul on Monday, 23 January 2023, in an intimate house wedding at Suniel Shetty's Khandala farmhouse. While the farmhouse was gorgeously lit, the video surfaced on social media showcasing wedding decorations. The wedding festivities began on Saturday when the family hosted a Mehndi, Haldi, Sangeet ceremony and a Cocktail night which was only attended by the family members and very close friends.
Adding to the list of intimate celebrity weddings, the guest list for Athiya-KL Rahul's wedding had a guest list of not more than 70-100 guests. The families decided on a 'no phone policy' where the guests were requested not to post any photos or videos online.

Athiya looked gorgeous in a golden anarkali suit by Ritu Kumar and kept her look minimal with just an oversized maang tikka. In the first picture, Athiya and Rahul were sharing a candid laugh as they were drenched in haldi. In another picture, we could see Athiya smashing her bhai, Ahan's face with haldi.

Athiya and Rahul wrote ‘Sukh’ (happiness) in their captions which showcase them photographed in a stunning outdoor setting, the bright yellow tones of their backdrop beautifully contrasting their choice of ensembles.

For their Haldi ceremony, the aesthetics matched perfectly. There was balance, honesty and trust. Every layer of the decor was detailed, and the haldi was a blooming marigold garden with layers from floor to ceiling.

Athiya Shetty chose to wear a Ritu Kumar Elysian Anarkali paired with a garara and odhna which was recreated from the archival repertoire for her Haldi function.
Swatches & inspirations from the 19th century were taken and revived to make this anarkali around 15yrs back. The Royalty of Rajasthan were known to adorn garments in pure cotton with gota embroidery. Taking this inspiration we had got 200 count of cotton muslin weaved by artisans of Phulia, Bengal. Only a few handful left carrying out this legacy.
Intricate hand embroidery, which took nearly 2000 man hours, was done by using the age-old technique of crumpling & folding the gota by hand to create these mango motifs. Gokhru gota from Jaipur has been used extensively throughout the ensemble, which are ribbons with metal strip wefts & fibre warps and pinched at repetitive intervals to create a particular look.

Athiya has just dropped unseen pictures from her mehendi ceremony, where all of the guests, including the bride, the groom and Suniel, can be seen dancing their hearts out. All of them seem to enjoy the couple’s special day.

Athiya Shetty chose a gorgeous lehenga design from Anjul Bhandari. It was a pure georgette custom-made 24 kali Chikankari lehenga, which is embellished all over with baby pearls and sequins. This piece was encrusted with over 39,000 Swarovski crystals. She styled her look with her grandmother's antique earrings.

For the pre-wedding puja to begin her happily-ever-after with KL Rahul, Athiya chose to don a gorgeous gold-beige saree paired perfectly with temple jewellery.

She kept her look simple with her hair tied back in a bun and subtle makeup. In one of the pictures, Athiya’s mom, Mana Shetty was seen blessing her daughter with flowers for the pre-wedding puja.

After four years of being together, where they reportedly started dating in 2019, the rumour of them getting married was speculated many times, where Suniel Shetty denied the couple tying the knot before finally announcing it over the weekend. The couple kept their relationship under wraps, and their wedding was only confirmed after KL Rahul took a long leave from the cricket schedule for the wedding preparations.

KL Rahul complemented her bride in an ivory sherwani, also by Anamika Khanna. He styled his wedding look with an embroidered overcoat and a dupatta around his neck, along with a layered emerald necklace.

Athiya Shetty chooses to don an Anamika Khanna bridal lehenga in an old-rose colour palette with metallic accents featuring floral embroidery and embellishments all over. It was a beautiful Chikankari piece with fine Zardosi and Jaali work. A minimalistic yet royal bridal outfit, Athiya's lehenga resonated with her elegant and subtle personal style. She chose to style her look with heavy jewellery and nude makeup look.

Suniel and Mana Shetty personally looked into all the wedding arrangements, from the decor to the food and ensured that it was the most beautiful one. Athiya didn't want a lot of buzz and noise around her wedding and therefore chose their Khandala farmhouse 'Jahan' as the perfect wedding venue.

There was hardly any glimpse of the highly guarded wedding, but Suniel on Sunday had promised the paparazzi to pose for pictures with the newlyweds after the wedding. Suniel thanked them for their love and made sure that there were proper arrangements made for the media stationed outside their home.
After the wedding, Athiya's father, Suniel Shetty, confirmed to the media that the pheras had ended. "I am now a father-in-law," he said, adding that a reception would likely be held after the IPL season. Suniel Shetty and his son Ahan distributed sweets to the media to celebrate the wedding.

Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul got married at Suniel Shetty's Khandala farmhouse. This venue was special. Beautiful old trees layered in jasmine strings, beds of mogra and the gorgeous linen in old world brocades hand dyed in a gorgeous soft mint palette.

As promised by Suniel Shetty, the newlywed couple stepped outside the heavily guarded farmhouse to get their photos clicked by the media.
Reportedly, KL Rahul and Athiya first started dating in 2019 after being set up by one of their common friends. The same year, they seemingly made their relationship Instagram official, sending the internet into a frenzy. They also went to visit Thailand to ring in the New Year 2020 together.

Also, despite the couple keeping it low-key, their mushy social media pictures and several pap spottings were enough to make the fans root for them. Of late, Athiya can be seen accompanying Rahul to his overseas tours, and the Shettys are often spotted enthusiastically cheering for the cricketer from the stands.
