It’s throwback time! Yes, the longest year when almost all of our near and dear ones tied the knot, is officially over. As we bid adieu to the year 2019, we looked back and realised, oh boy, we have truckloads of trends that were created by brides, couturiers, makeup & hair artists, jewellery designers and every big-little wedding service provider who make this dream called wedding, come true (It does take a village to plan a wedding!). While some trends flew in our inboxes, some needed to be found like diamonds.
Believe it or not, “who wore what” is an indirect solution to “what should I wear?”. Tell us if we’re wrong! With little improvisation in blouse neck design or lehenga colour, and some blending together of two different trends also counts as borrowing some part of the existing trends. Some call it customization, we call it–something borrowed; something new!😉
So, let’s cut to the chase of what we’re most and ever excited about–the Bridal Trends that ruled the year 2019 and worthy of being carried on for the year 2020.
Pick your favourites and give it your own spin!
What 2019 Brides Wore!
Mirror-work wedding lehengas
Bridal designers like Abhinav Mishra, Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, Akanksha Gajria, Suneet Varma are some of the many designers that come in mind when we think about mirror-work lehengas. If you're the kind of bride who loves to go all out and bling, mirror-work lehengas are your pick.
Unconventional wedding lehengas
Gone are the times when brides would only want to deck up in heavy red bridal lehengas, 2019 was all about taking charge of your own choices. We saw brides include the most unexpected colour palette for their wedding outfits or bridal trousseau. Literally, pick your style and wear it with nothing but confidence.

Short lehengas
Short lehengas might sound bizarre to you but trust us, it's only bizarre if you do them wrong. Couturiers like Anita Dongre & Papa Don't Preach changed the way people look at short lehengas. They're trendier than ever for your smaller ceremonies like Haldi & Mehndi. Pick the right colours, right embroideries and nothing could possibly go wrong.
Monochromatic lehengas
This one is our personal favourite. Besides how pretty and clean they look, monochromatic lehengas also tend to make you appear tall and toned. So, if you're running on any of those dieting programs, we just gave you a reason to ditch it. Eat those gluttony brownies and be merry, let monochromatic lehengas do the talking.
Vintage-inspired lehengas
If you're a bride-to-be who loves the old world charm and the essence of traditions, lehengas that have a story to tell are the perfect bridal pick for you.
Floral lehengas
Anushka Sharma rang in this trend big time when she tied the knot 2017 and floral lehengas don't seem to get off the racks even in 2020. So if you've always wanted to wear Anushka waala lehenga, go for it girl. You only get married once!

Indo-western silhouettes
Having fun with your wedding looks is one of the biggest learnings from every bridal trend from 2019. So go for those off-beat silhouettes and embellishments and channelise your inner diva.
Bridal Jewellery
2019 saw the most extravagant and offbeat bridal jewellery designs. From detailed Meenakari work to intricately designed jewellery pieces, it was all about one's personal style. Some brides went all out and bold with chunky baubles while some chose to take a trip to the past and picked up some precious heirloom pieces. Either way, we got the chance to discover some jewellery trends for the 2020 brides.

Accessories We Loved
Details are everything when you envision your bridal look. Sure, you think of yourself decked up in those gorgeous lehengas and extravagant jewellery pieces but thinking about what you'd wear in your hands and feet is also a thing to consider. Little things like the design of your kalire, choice of wedding shoes and carriables like clutches or Potlis make a hell lot of difference and gives an extra edge to the bridal look. Another big trend was to wear absolutely comfortable bridal footwear which included embellished juttis & mules, block heels & sneakers.

Trendiest Hairstyles
Keeping everything simple and clean is the trick. Choose loose hairstyles over the tighter ones, choose flower buds instead of the whole flower, pick smaller accessories over the bigger ones and you're sure to rock each and every wedding look of yours.

Bridal Makeup
2019 was a year of minimal and dewy bridal makeup with a lot of blush and a hint of highlighter, and this is one trend to swear by and take with you in the year 2020. Makeup is supposed to enhance your natural features and not change it and there's nothing better than keeping it natural. So take those bridal makeup trials seriously and book your makeup artist very thoughtfully. You don't want to look somebody else but a pretty you.
Bridal Henna Designs
If there was anything prominent in the bridal mehndi scenes it was how out and loud brides went to get their love story etched within the expanse of their hands. Be it the tale of their long-distance love or their mutual love for animals, they wore it all on their sleeves and it was truly heart-warming. Going that extra mile is what counts and why go for those basic floral designs or traditional bridal mehndi designs when you can simply make it all about you and your partner.
