Bald is Beautiful Bridal Shoot! Up, Close & Personal! - an Inspiration for Us All!

Your wedding is one of the grandest occasions of your life - a day, that turns into a weeklong celebration! We all have seen one too many times, the pressure that is laid upon the bride to look perfect on the outside even if she may not be feeling just as good on the inside.

The pressure to have the fairest skin, a lustrous mane, a certain body type and not to mention a wedding dress worthy of the Goddesses - but who said that these were the golden rules? Why not a bob cut, with a no-makeup look or perhaps ditch the whole bridal lehenga all together? Akhshaya, a 24-year-old braveheart, is the very definition of body positivity, a woman who challenged the long-living notion that bald is not beautiful. 

We recently had a heart-to-heart with this 'Bold and Beautiful' woman at heart. Read on and find out why she chose to go ahead with this viral bridal photoshoot and how she is breaking through the stereotypical barriers of beauty.

This is Why She Walked the Path of Bald is Better!

Hailing from a deep-seated South Indian Brahmin family, shaving off her hair was nothing less than shattering a taboo for Akhshaya. Seeing her cousin battle with cancer & ex-boyfriend's mother come face to face with throes of breast cancer, which ultimately led to both of them losing their hair as a result of the radiations prompted Akshayasa to shave off her own hair & donate them to an NGO that helps make wigs for cancer patients.

Instead of letting shaving off her hair dent her life, Akhshaya decided to live to the fullest and began documenting her journey through her Instagram handle, challenging the mindsets of millennials and owning to the fact that bald is beautiful, one that also applied to her idea of a dream bridal photoshoot in which she looks like a charismatic bride, a true vision in a white gown!

A Journey That Breathes Life Into Body Positivity

Picking an ethereal white gown for herself, replete with a tiara and a neckpiece, she brought to the fore her exuberating confidence and zeal for life, with a pearly white smile and smiled for the camera to her heart's content. This braveheart believes in creating fashion trends of her own and we are all game to see what she does next!

Akhshaya's journey is a fine example of beauty with brains, especially her bald queen series. A woman who puts the meaning into the phrase that 'beautiful- both inside and out'. She recently walked the ramp for Lakme Fashion Week, the very first plus-size model, challenging notions with every single stride she is making to make that difference and bring about a change.

Like we said, having a big fat Indian wedding at no point should make you feel overwhelmed that you missed out on making your wedding the most extravagant day of your life or did things that layout of your comfort zone! The winning factor remains in realising what kind of a bride you would want to be and not what the society expects you to be.
