Mere hathon me nau nau churiyaan hai, thoda thehro sajan majbooriya hain...” isn’t that the iconic Indian wedding song of all times? You just cannot imagine a Sangeet or a Mehndi function without this Sridevi classic number. Bangles are not just an ornament. They are the symbol of grace, marital prosperity and good luck.

From Punjab’s Chura to Bengal’s Shakha Pola to Maharashtra’s Patlya and Tode...brides across the country wear bangles of different styles and colours representing different cultural traditions. So how about keeping the bangle traditions alive while adding a dose of fun? Let us tell you how to make the most of a Churiwala at your wedding functions!

It’s time for some return gifts for the ladies! And who doesn’t love a huge box of colourful bangles added to their jewellery collection? Gifting bangles as wedding favours have always been and will be a popular idea. Now give your Churiwala a call to choose from a wide range of bangles in all sizes, shapes and colours. You could also ask your guests to try the bangles on at your Sangeet and pick their favourite colour. Dedicate a corner exclusively for ladies to try out bangles and choose their own box of return gift!

3. Churi Games

Infinite Memories

Here comes the fun part! Take a load off and let the games begin already! Bangle-based wedding games are some of the most loved ones in the Sangeet or Mehndi functions. Give your Churiwala certain instructions and let the ball rolling! Here are a few Churi based game ideas:

  1. Dice & Bangles: Mix all the bangles in a tray and assign each number on dice with a bangle-colour (e.g. 1 for Red, 2 for green etc.). Now ask the male partner to roll dice. Whichever number comes, the male partner has to put bangles with that assigned number on his partner’s hands. The couple where the female partner wears the maximum number of bangles within a time limit wins.
  2. Bangle Hoop: Arrange gifts, money, goodies, beer cans as targets and ask your guests to throw bangle hoops on them. You could also assign number plates for each gift.
  3. Garland-making contest: Another fun game for your poolside cocktail party! Within a time limit ask your guests to make garlands out of bangles. It could be either a team game or an individual one. The one with the largest garland wins the game.

Who says bangles are just for your hands? Let the creative juices flow and make bangles a part of your wedding decoration! Get a whole range of colourful bangles from your Churiwala with silk and cotton threads to use them as wall hangings. Here are some more ideas where you can use bangles for your decor:

  1. Rangoli design: Use colour coordinated bangles in between your floral rangoli designs as accessories.
  2. Mandap design: Use bangles instead of lights or flowers as a part of your simple mandap design. You can even use your old bangles for decoration purposes.
  3. The DIY Factor: If you’re planning to do the stage designs or Sangeet sitting arrangements all by yourself, bangles can come as a rescuer. Use them with drapes, curtains, floral hangings and centrepieces to get a fresh look.

5. Churiwala as an entertainer

Infinite Memories

Set up a Churiwala as a centre for entertainment and enthusiasm, preferably at your Mehndi function or a Haldi ceremony. How? By letting him undertake his trade as a live bangle maker while your guests look on and demand for their own set of handmade bangles. The art form, usually in lac, gets them vibrant, chunky bangles in their favoured colours, crafted to their exact size.

These bangles would also work spectacularly as favours that they could take back with themselves.

Here are a few more ideas by which you could add your Churiwala's talents to your afternoon and evening's delights:

  1. Get some charms - Ask your Churiwala to bring in charms, stones and the like that guests can choose from, as embellishments for their live bangles.
  2. Arrange an auction - Tie in a noble cause with your wedding, by auctioning the bangles made to your guests. Let them know that this is in good fun and the cause for which they would be contributing to this action.

The best thing about bangles is, they are compact and so versatile in nature that you can use them in almost every possible aspect of weddings and festivals. From a traditional Shagun to a Cocktail party game prop- all your events are sorted with bangles! You can even go for funky shaped and jazzy coloured bangles for your bachelorette party. All you have to do is hire a Churiwala for your wedding and you can have a whole world of bangles. After all, there is no such thing as “too many bangles”!
