1. Assam

The traditional Assamese dress for women is known as Mekhla Chadar. It is a very vibrant two-piece outfit which is not only easy to wear and carry but will also make you stand out from the crowd. Mostly the dress is made from various kinds of silk such as Eri, Paat, and golden Muga produced exclusively in the region. Pair with a traditional bracelet of Assam known as Gamkharu to rock the look!

2. Kolkata

The traditional attire of women in Bengal is a saree made of silk or cotton. Although sarees are worn by women in various parts of the country, the Bengali style of draping and pleating is what makes it distinct. The most popular sarees that are donned by the Bengali women during celebrations are the Garad, the Tant, and the Korial. All the three sarees are known for the same red and white colour combination. While the white symbolises purity, the red symbolises fertility.

The moment we talk about Punjab, the gorgeous Patiala salwars come to our minds at once. Pair it with a knee-length kurti with a dupatta in contrasting colour for a pre-wedding ceremony like mehndi or sangeet. Complete the look with a shimmering and embroidered Jutti. Those who want to go a step ahead with the Punjabi look can opt for the traditional hair accessory known as Parandi.

A Mysore silk saree is the traditional attire for women in Karnataka. The zest looking attire is a must have for wedding ceremonies. It is lustrous, soft, and lightweight, and brings out a very royal look. You can pair it up with a traditional armlet known as Tholu Bandhi. It is famous for its unique patterns and elegant artistry.

6. Gujarat

The traditional clothing for women in Gujarat is known as ghagra choli or Chaniya Choli. Very similar to lehenga choli, it has an exuberant look and is usually rich in designs. Also, as it is mostly available in bright colours, it is perfect attire for celebrations. With this, you can also adorn a fancy Gujarati Kamarbandh known as Kandora.

8. Kashmir

For a winter wedding, you can opt for a traditional dress of Kashmir called Pheran.
