Naughty pranks have been an unsaid tradition in Indian weddings through the ages. From cousins to friends, everyone gets involved to provide some comic relief to the guests and also make the couple crack up!

These naughty pranks are thoughtful and fun, to say the least. You could always even hint at carrying out a prank but never actually do one, to keep the couple looking out for something. From Bollywood films to our neighbour's wedding, there is a naughty prank inspiration everywhere! 1. The smelly ride

"Once the emotional Vidaai was over, concluding the Indian wedding ceremony, we entered the car to head towards the hotel. But the moment we entered the car all sorts of foul smells greeted us and almost made us nauseous.

We stopped the car various times along the route to detect the smell and rid it but to no avail. From air fresheners to leaving the windows open and even airing out the car for a long five minutes, nothing worked and it drove us crazy and soured out mood. At this point, we were too exhausted to pay more heed to it but the persistent smell did not give a moment to rest. It was quite the naughty prank.

At the end of the ride to the hotel, as we went to our room our friends greeted us in the lobby and slyly admitted they were behind the stench in the car but to make up for it and make the long first night ahead of fun and reignite the energy, they thoughtfully made it up with a goodie box with everything from condoms to wine and even bath bubbles. It really made us forget about the one bad ride. After all, that is life if not for some bad moments too, right?"

2. The classic prank

"So, once all the ceremonies had concluded, my husband and I retired to our wedding suite for our marriage first night together. We somehow knew we should expect some naughty pranks but not knowing what it was and the whole exhausted factor, just kept us on our heel. But after we settled down and got comfortable say 2 hours into our time in the room, random alarms began ringing from across the room.

Our friends had gotten to every nook and corner to ensure we are harassed. In retrospect, these classic naughty pranks were a payback, as I had myself carried them out on my best friend, but being on the other side I can tell you it is not fun! The next morning at breakfast, our friends could not stop asking us if had a good 'Time'...".

3.  First night 'apart'

"I'll just start by saying, I loved this naughty pranks my friends so thoughtfully did with me. The sheer magnitude of the people they got involved and the effort itself is worth a standing ovation.

So to avoid dragging out my wedding ceremonies, I decided to have a reception dinner right after my afternoon wedding. Once the Saat Pheras were done and we got a few pictures clicked, I went straight to my MUA to get freshened up and ready for the reception. While I got ready for the last event and built up excitement for our first night together, in came my three best friends and they began by asking me what the plans for the night were to which I naively admitted that I had no expectations for my first night with the hubby and I was extremely nervous.

To which they giggled, mocked my sincere thoughts and said that today was not my first night with him. In fact, it is customary for the bride to spend the first night with her mother-in-law. I was stunned and just giggled nervously.  I consulted with my cousins, my mother and even my mother in law herself who expressed excitement upon me mentioning this custom.

I was so disappointed I had made so many preparations for this day. It was not until I walked to my room after it all and found my husband sitting on the bed with a bottle of wine and flowers, did I realise that it was nothing but an elaborate naughty prank."

4. The movie-inspired prank

"Just when my husband and I least expected it, our cousins got together to carry out one of their naughty pranks on us! The first day of all the ceremonies beginning, we had a combined pool Mehndi party which was all about the quirky colourful events.

Just engrossed by the fun all around us we made our grand entrance right to the seats especially decorate for us. As we sat down, loud crackling noises made it across the whole area. Such a good ASMR video it would have made, a couple sitting down on a layer of pappad, chips and all things crunchy. It was such a Hum Aapke Hain Kaun inspired naughty prank which cracked up everyone!"

There are so many naughty pranks you can carry out on the couple, bride or even just the groom. After all, there is so much need for fun and mirth to give them a chance to laugh off the nervousness and have fun! But always remember not to take it to a level where your prank does nothing but irritate someone and soil moments.
