Designer Ridhi Mehra’s 2020 Spring Summer wedding collection, ‘Morbagh’ is the answer to every millennial brides’ prayers. While traditions lie at the heart of the design concept; subtle hues, strong and overpowering necklines, fluid silhouettes and intricate floral detailing spin a tale of modern opulence through the collection. The designer celebrates strong creatives that have been designed striking a perfect balance of minimal finesse with strong feminine characteristics. Morbagh is a soiree of wedding fashion weaved in emotions that is beautifully narrated with 3 different friends planning their wedding. An elegant and free spirited display of affectionate friendships is set in a backdrop of wedding celebrations. The wedding story tugs at your heartstrings with a display of love that best friends and sisters feel as the bride ties the knot and commits to a union of a lifetime.
Speaking of the inspiration of the collection, the designer quotes, “Morbagh has showcased a play of exaggerated detailing in metallic dabka; luxurious silhouettes woven in chanderi, organza and chiffon resonates to the classic Indian wear with a modern spin through floral and paisley prints. Friendship is an undefined emotion and Morbagh unites these three beings who are different in their desires and choices but there’s a similar feeling of peace looking at your best friend being loved and cared just like you do.” As the collection and their wedding story unfolds, three brides are seen channeling their dream wedding attires that is an interesting and striking contrast of eccentric-floral, chic-contemporary style and traditional Indian theme. The Ridhi Mehra collection beautifully weaves a tale of contemporary feminine elegance.
Ridhi Mehra’s Bridal 'Jashn'
Behold the quaint bride! Draped in breezy chiffon, silk and organza silhouettes and swinging merrily with her closed ones in a whimsical bridal swing. The collection splashes a palette of dusty neutral tones of champagne and beige, shades of adorable pink and light turquoise. The designer shares, “The ensembles with a sharp detailing of silver-gold glass beads, sequins, metallic dabka and zari threads remain aligned to the likes of classic Indian wear with a modern spin through prints in palm trees, floral vines and paisley motifs. The bride with her best bridesmaids captures the musings of a ‘fun and frolic’ marriage amidst spring blooms and greenery.” Ridhi Mehra’s bridal 'Jashn' captures the beautiful essence and journey of a young woman’s ‘baraat’ who has always dreamt of a wedding of zest surrounded by her happy friends and family.
Ridhi Mehra’s Wedding Collection ‘Serai’
Adding more pages to her storied history of eccentric and delicate details with the correct flair for drama, Ridhi Mehra’s collection echoes her signature styles. The designs from the collection Serai are beautifully adorned with shimmery sequins, pearls, silk threads on geometric floral and paisley motifs. The designer shares the details of the essence of the collection, “We have all grown up with the dreams of a perfect fairytale wedding adorned with an elaborate, tiered, wedding cake; white linen; scented candles in a naturally stunning area creating a bright and vibrant effect against a rustic theme. This collection offers a western-style veil as well, creating a potent and timeless image. Indian jewellery and flowers add an edge of tranquility and placid vibe to capture the poignant emotion of love shared with friends and family.”
A Ridhi Mehra Bride 'Heer'
If you are a new age bride with a soft corner for heirlooms and fashion that has trickled down in your family tree, Ridhi Mehra’s bridal line - Heer, is a collection of timeless regular ensembles. Drawing inspiration from classic Indian weddings, but spun with truly new age and western aesthetics, Heer is an anecdote of maximal ethnic looks designed with lighter fabrics like chiffon, organza, net and silk. Golden zari threads, cutdana and floral motifs are weaved on bright hues like canary yellow, peach, apple green, ivory and gold. The designer shares, “Tradition and culture in lines of Indian fashion are ever-evolving. The bride adorns an ivory-hued lehenga with Indian bridal ornamentation yet creating the vision of a chic, opulent aesthete, being an icon of the strong Indian bride led by her true girl brigade who stood through thick and thin.”
