Planning a wedding is no easy task. But if you wish to incorporate all South Indian wedding traditions for your big day, take inspiration from the beautiful love story and gorgeous wedding ceremony of Shravya and Sundar. Talking about the beautiful beginning of her love story, Shravya said, "Ours is a Bumble love story! We matched and met here in Canada and instantly clicked. Our mutual love for our doggos and bonding over things like music and food brought us together."

Haldi Ceremony

Shravya and Sundar live in Canada but chose to get married in India while virtually planning all of their wedding ceremonies. Their festive celebration kickstarted with a beautiful Haldi ceremony full of flower showers and water baths. Talking about her wedding planning journey and the challenges and limitations that come with compiling ideas virtually, Lahari said, "It was definitely tricky, but we were very meticulous with the planning and did a ton of research virtually for inspiration. But the complete credit goes to my parents, especially my Mom, who planned and executed everything to perfection - they scouted the venues, managed the guest lists and arrangements, coordinated with all of the vendors and did all of the shopping."

Sangeet Ceremony

Apart from some smashing performances by the bride, groom and her loved ones, there were some pretty interesting and fun show game questions to add the quirk element to their celebrations. Shravya said, "We had lots of elements to keep guests engaged - At the sangeet - we had portraits of us from our dating journey blown up at the venue to give a sneak peek of our love story, and we had engaging movie quizzes and games as fillers between different Sangeet performances and also had the 360 rotating camera - which was a big hit with the guests." The wedding fashion is one of the major elements for planning an Indian wedding. And while Shravya was not in India to shop for her wedding, she gave us insights about her interesting wedding shopping journey saying, "I only bought my Sangeet lehenga after landing in India. All my other outfits (about 6 of them) were shopped virtually - with my Mom video-calling me from the stores. I tried to look for options in Canada, but most Indian boutiques here have very outdated fashion! In Sundar's case, as it was a smaller number of outfits and because there was a Manyavar in Canada, it was relatively more straightforward. All in all - it was stressful, but we were able to pull it off, phew."

Wedding Ceremony

Shravya chose a gorgeous South Indian bridal look for her wedding day, while her vision for her wedding for simple, subtle, yet inspiring. Talking about the same, she said, "Our vision for the wedding was: an indoor-outdoor flow to leverage the beautiful daylight, south Indian elements like banana branches, marigold flowers, and stage decor that was subtle without being too subdued. We wanted to keep it cheerful, loud and classic! " Talking about one highlight from her wedding that Shravya would never forget, she told us, "Definitely the muhurtam - where we place a mix of jaggery and jeera on each other's heads - this is the traditional Telugu way of getting married, and is the first step before the mangal sutra gets tied to seal the deal. The muhurtam is a beautiful moment because that is when the parda (cloth partition) between us gets dropped and we get to see each other for the first time on the day of the wedding. It was a beautiful moment, very surreal! We also enjoyed the talambralu - which is the part where we playfully pour a LOT of rice on each other."
